ELIGIBILITY FOR THE DISABILITY TAX CREDIT

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO CLAIM THE DISABILITY TAX CREDIT

To be eligible for the disability tax credit you must meet one of the following:

  • is blind

  • is markedly restricted in at least one of the basic activities of daily living

  • is significantly restricted in two or more of the basic activities of daily living (can include a vision impairment)

  • needs life-sustaining therapy

Also, if you meet any of the following conditions above it would need to be present for more than 12 months and affect your daily activity all or substantially all the time.

If one or more of the following daily activities affect you, you may be eligible:

  • Speaking 

  • Hearing 

  • Walking

  • Elimination (bowel or bladder functions)

  • Feeding

  • Dressing

  • Mental Functions for Everyday Life

T2201 FORM

This is the form used to help the government (Canada Revenue Agency) determine whether you are qualified for the Disability tax credit. We will help you with this process and ensure that you and your medical practitioner are well informed on how to fill out this form.
